“EMPOWER-MEN-T 2011” Men’s Retreat

The 2011 Men’s Retreat is scheduled for March 11,12,13. Our theme for the weekend is exploring the Holy Spirit...so this weekend will be aptly named “EMPOWER-MEN-T 2011”! Again, this year we will be at scenic Camp Lael. The fee will be $60 which includes meals and lodging. Scholarships are available. The Women of Genesis Spring Retreat is planned for Friday, March 25 (6-9 pm) and Saturday, March 26 (8:30 am – 3 pm) at Genesis the Church. The cost is $30 which includes the cost of dinner on Friday night and breakfast, snacks and lunch on Saturday. Register in the lobby beginning February 27. Lab Training 1

As we prepare for the EACH campaign we know that it is necessary that we not only share information about what it is to love others but that we create opportunities where we can model and practice loving others together. We are calling these trainings “labs”, allowing for hands-on training to do what we have learned.  Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hear the word and observe it!” G.I. Joe said, “Knowing is half the battle”. But the other half is doing.  On this coming Friday night we are creating an opportunity for doing. The content for the night is to pray as Jesus did for others.  Join us on this Friday, March 4, starting at 7 pm in the Youth Room on the second floor.

EACH Lab Training 2: CommuniD BBQ
Plan to join us on Saturday, March 26, from 1–5 pm at Redmond Plaza on 2nd Ave and Selden St. in Detroit. We'll be hanging out with our homeless friends in the D. Notice this is a time WITH the homeless, not for. We are all God’s little kids... brothers and sisters in Christ. Let’s go show some love and have a family BBQ with a part of the family of God that’s been neglected for far too long. Bring a meal to share with a few others. This is a collaborative effort put together by Elevate Detroit (Elevatedetroit.com) along with individuals, churches and groups seeking to follow Jesus from around metro-Detroit.
